Welcome

Hi, I am Dr. Pablo Merchán-Rivera, an AI Engineer and Data Scientist based in Munich.

I am originally from Ecuador and hold a doctoral degree in engineering from the Technical University of Munich (2022). Over the last three years, my main focus has been AI engineering: building reliable LLM applications, evaluation workflows, and production-ready ML systems.

My background in numerical modeling, uncertainty quantification, and Bayesian methods continues to shape how I design practical AI solutions for real-world problems.

A Few Personal Notes

• I once caught crocodiles by hand during a field research project.
• I play guitar, sing, and dance salsa.
• I enjoy video games, even if I play less than I would like.
• Learning drives me: books, podcasts, and online courses are a constant part of my routine.
• I follow football closely and would like to build a player-statistics app.
• I care deeply about visual quality, from plots and slides to notebooks and IDE themes.
• Coffee is my daily fuel, and coffee shops are one of my favorite places to work and think.
• I enjoy teaching and have lectured on numerical modeling, uncertainty quantification, and data science at TUM and in workshops in Ecuador.
